GPSltd are pleased to announce the acquisition of a new HDS3000 3d laser scanner to our 
growing scanning services.
   

The HDS3000 offers our clients unparalleled speed, detail and accuracy in all terrestrial survey applications including topographic, architectural, heritage, building, forensic and civil engineering projects.  The HDS3000 offers a 360x270 scan field of view, collecting 1800 xyz points a second with the ability to analyse the 'point-cloud' data in RGB and reflectance values.

[14-05-2004] - 3d laser scanning used on Victoria Square Archaeological Excavations.

 

Gahan and Long Archaeologists have employed gridpoint solutions to support archaeological excavations at Victoria Square, as part of the multi-million pound redevelopment of the historic area of Belfast City.  3d laser scanning is being used for the first time in Ireland on a live excavation to supplement the recording of archaeological features and finds. [24-02-2004] - Grid Point Solutions Ltd scan Black Rock Post Office, Dublin.

 

As part of the sensitive re-development of this listed building and former Post office, Irish Archaeological Consultancy Ltd (IAC) Dublin, commissioned Grid Point Solutions Ltd to acquire a detailed 3d laser scan survey of both the internal and external elevation/facades of this local landmark. 

 

58 3d point -cloud scans were collected using our Cyrax 3D Laser Scanner, allowing the production of highly detailed and accurate CAD 2d plan, section and elevation drawings of the internal offices, mail room, lobby and floor areas of the PO.  Scanning of the external front and rear facades completed the survey with the production of detailed facade elevations. 

 

IAC will submit both the scan data and traditional 2d drawing output to the project architect as part of legislative planning requirements and related conservation record regarding the re-development and protection of listed buildings.

[29-01-2004] - Grid Point Solutions Ltd scan 28 O'Connell Street, Dublin.

 

As part of the sensitive re-development of this unique and listed Dublin property and former bank, Irish Archaeological Consultancy Ltd (IAC) Dublin, commissioned Grid Point Solutions Ltd to acquire a detailed 3d laser scan survey of both the internal and external elevation/facades of this highly ornate building. 

 

3d point cloud scan data was collected using our Cyrax 3D Laser Scanner, allowing the production of highly detailed and accurate CAD 2d plan, section and elevation drawings of the internal ornate walls, lobby roof and floor plans of the former bank.  Scanning of the external facade completed the survey with the production of detailed facade drawings and models.  All this while O'Connell St went about it's daily business - LEWIS works and all! 

 

IAC will submit both the scan data and traditional 2d drawing output to it's client as part of legislative planning requirements and related conservation record regarding the re-development and protection of listed buildings.

[23-10-2003] - Grid Point Solutions Ltd are commissioned to scan upstanding archaeological features of Lynally and Drumcullen Churches, Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

 

The two ruined and abandoned parish churches were scanned on behalf of Jo Moran & Dave Pollock Partners (Archaeologists) as part of a local council funded project to record and archive the churches before the implementation of a restoration and site heritage management plan.  The registered 3d laser scans will be used to generate 2d and 3d plans sections, elevations and models of the churches as a complete record of the archaeological features before any restoration.

 [12-10-2003] - Grid Point Solutions Ltd present at the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI) Autumn Conference,

Carrick-on-Shannon.

 

Conor Graham of Grid Point Solutions Ltd presented a talk entitled:

 

Digital Reality Capture for Archaeological Survey, Archive, Historical Documentation and Heritage Management:  Introducing 3D Laser Scanning.

 

The conference audience included professional archaeologists, architectural and heritage management professionals, and individuals from both the private and public sectors (ROI & NI) involved in the management and mitigation of archaeological resources.  The well received presentation included a live demonstration of the Cyrax 2500 3d laser scanning system (Irelands first commercial Cyrax 3D Laser scanning service) and examples of the new and exciting role of laser scanning technology in the fields of commercial and research archaeology, historical archive and architecture.
